8月18日,成都墨尔文学校两大主题夏令营——“英语强化与领导力周”“墨尔文之路:探索周”正式拉开帷幕。参与学员既包括成都墨尔文在校生,也有即将于九月入学的新生。

本期夏令营以新学年课程衔接为核心目标,帮助孩子们提前应对学术挑战,体验国际化教学氛围,并在多元文化环境中深入感受墨尔文精神的五大驱动力,激发思维与创造力。课程涵盖数学、英语、体育、课外活动及户外领导力项目等多个领域。

01、学术衔接:稳健铺垫新学年的第一步

作为新学年的前瞻体验,夏令营通过系统化的学术活动,为孩子搭建平稳过渡的桥梁。所有课程均由墨尔文在职教师执教,紧密对接我校学术标准,尤其侧重数学与英语核心能力,帮助孩子从容迎接新学期挑战,奠定全面卓越的学术基础。

在数学与STEAM课程中,我们注重基础概念的深入理解与实践应用。孩子们通过实地测量校园建筑、搭建DNA与tRNA分子模型、用土豆淀粉制作可生物降解塑料等课题,将知识融入现实,真正感受学科的魅力与实用价值,初步体验墨尔文所倡导的“Path Finders”(探索者)和“Free Thinkers”(自由思考者)精神

02、英语强化

自信表达,自在沟通

夏令营强调“真实语用”,让孩子在高度互动的语言环境中实现表达能力的跨越。角色扮演、项目展示、情境对话等环节,不仅锻炼语言技巧,更提升公开表达与沟通自信,为未来进入国际化环境夯实基础,呼应墨尔文精神中“沟通者(Communicators)”的培养目标。

从模拟机场值机到合作完成美国景点推介,从海报设计到三明治创意制作——每一项任务都融合语言学习与逻辑创造,让孩子在应用中拓宽词汇,在团队中学会表达,真正迈向语言卓越。

03、领导力与协作

在团队中绽放自我

除学术提升之外,夏令营同样重视领导力与团队协作能力的培养。躲避赛、社团策略游戏等集体活动,让孩子们在运动中学会协作,在协商中实践领导。这些跨学科、多维度的训练,正深刻体现墨尔文所重视的“团队合作者(Team Builders)”与“创变者Change Makers”精神。

04、寄宿体验

融入墨尔文“家外之家”

夏令营不止于课堂,更延伸至墨尔文特色寄宿生活。孩子们在温馨与支持性的环境中,体验国际化社区文化,感受“家外之家”的归属与成长。短短几日,我们已看到孩子们在学术、语言和团队合作方面的显著进步。有家长反馈,闲置已久的乐器,在夏令营同伴的合奏中重获生机——教育的温度,正体现在这些真实的共鸣之中。

校内环节暂告一段落,本周末,孩子们将前往大邑鹤鸣山户外营地,以“爱丁堡公爵奖”为框架迎接更多挑战。我们期待他们继续突破自我,在更广阔的天地中展现墨尔文学子的卓越风采与不断超越的精神。

On August 18, Malvern College Chengdu launched two themed summer camps—"English Immersion & Leadership Week" and "The Malvern Journey: Exploration Week."Participants included both current students and new students joining us in September.

The camps were designed to support a smooth transition into the new academic year, helping students prepare for upcoming academic challenges while experiencing an international teaching environment.Within a multicultural setting, students engaged deeply with the five drivers of the Malvern Qualities, sparking both critical thinking and creativity.The curriculum covered a wide range of disciplines including mathematics, English, sports, co-curricular activities, and outdoor leadership programmes.

01、Academic Bridging:A Solid Foundation for the New Term

As a preparatory experience for the new school year, the summer camps offered structured academic activities to ensure a smooth transition into the term ahead.All courses were taught by Malvern College Chengdu's own teachers, and were closely aligned with the school’s academic standards, with a particular focus on core skills in mathematics and English. This foundation equipped students to approach the new term with confidence and laid the groundwork for future academic excellence.

In mathematics and STEAM subjects, the focus was on both deep conceptual understanding and practical application. Through activities such as measuring campus buildings, constructing DNA and tRNA models, and creating biodegradable plastic from potato starch, students connected theoretical knowledge with real-world contexts. These hands-on experiences brought subjects to life and introduced the Malvern Qualities of"Path Finders" and "Free Thinkers".

02、English Immersion

Expressing with Confidence, Communicating with Ease

The camp placed strong emphasis onauthentic language use,encouraging students to make develop their fluency within a highly interactive English-speaking environment. Activities such as Role-playing, project presentations, and situational dialogues not only strengthened linguistic skills but also built confidence in public speaking and collaboration—aligning closely with the Malvern Quality of"Communicators".

From simulating airport check-ins to collaboratively presenting famous American landmarks, from designing posters to creating original sandwich recipes—each task integrated language learning with creativity and problem-solving. Through these activities, students expanded their vocabulary, learned to express themselves in team settings, and took significant steps to linguistic excellence.

03、Leadership and Collaboration: Flourishing within a Team

Beyond academic development, this camp placed strong emphasis on leadership and teamwork. Group activities such as dodgeball and strategy-based team games taught students how to collaborate effectively, develop resilience and leadership through negotiation. These cross-disciplinary and multi-dimensional exercises reflected the Malvern Qualities of"Team Builders" and "Change Makers".

04Boarding Experience:Becoming Part of the Malvern "A Home Away from Home"

The camp extended beyond the classroom into the distinctive boarding life at Malvern.Within a warm and supportive environment, students experienced the sense of international communit and developed a sense of belonging that defines a "home away from home".In just a few days, we observed remarkable progress in students' academic, linguistic, and teamwork skills. One parent remarked that a long-unused instrument at home had been brought back to life after their child joined a music jam session with new friends—an example of the genuine connections that an education at Malvern inspires.

With the on-campus segment now complete, the children will head to the Heiming Mountain Outdoor Camp in Dayi, this weekend, where they will take on new challenges inspired by the Duke of Edinburgh's Award framework. We look forward to seeing them continue to push their boundaries and showcase the spirit of excellence and perseverance that defines Malvern students.
