On the one hand, environmental problems such as climate change, ocean pollution, and deforestation aretransboundaryin nature and require collective solutions. An international organization, such as the United Nations Environment Programme, cancoordinate global efforts, set uniform standards, and ensure that all countries are held accountable. Without suchoversight, some nations may fail to act responsibly, undermining the efforts of others. Furthermore, international bodies canprovide support—financial, technical, and legal—to developing countriesthat lack the resources to address environmental issues effectively.

Moreover, governments have the authority toimplement taxes, subsidies, and penaltiesthatdirectly influence citizens’ behavior, something international organizations cannot enforce without national cooperation.
